What are solar lentigines?
Solar lentigines are flat areas of pigmentation associated with cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
They are sometimes called sun spots or age spots and commonly develop on areas of skin that have received repeated sun exposure.
Are solar lentigines harmless?
Solar lentigines are generally benign.
However, different pigmented skin lesions can sometimes look similar. Lipo 360 does not diagnose skin lesions.
If we’re unsure about a pigmented lesion, we will not proceed with cosmetic treatment and may recommend an appropriate healthcare assessment.
How does CryoPen treatment work?
CryoPen applies controlled freezing to a targeted area.
Following treatment, the area may change in appearance as the skin responds and heals.
Treatment responses vary, and complete clearance cannot be guaranteed.
Is CryoPen treatment painful?
People experience CryoPen treatment differently.
You may feel cold, stinging, or discomfort during treatment, and the area may feel tender afterwards.
Your practitioner will discuss what you may experience before treatment.
Will one treatment clear a solar lentigo?
Not necessarily.
Response varies by individual and by the characteristics of the area being treated.
Some areas may require further treatment, and we cannot guarantee complete clearance.
Can pigmentation return after treatment?
Pigmentation may persist or recur following treatment, and additional areas of pigmentation may develop in the future.
Continued UV exposure can contribute to the development of solar lentigines, so appropriate sun protection remains important.
Can every brown spot be treated?
No.
Not every pigmented mark is a solar lentigo, and Lipo 360 does not diagnose skin lesions.
We will not treat an area where there is uncertainty about the identity of the lesion or where further assessment is considered appropriate.
What if my pigmented mark has changed?
If a pigmented lesion is new or has changed in size, shape, colour or appearance, or if it bleeds, itches, crusts or otherwise concerns you, seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.
Cosmetic treatment should not replace appropriate medical assessment.
