Urge Incontinence Harrogate

Pelvic Floor Muscle Stimulation & Bladder Support

Urge incontinence can involve a sudden, difficult-to-control need to urinate and, for some people, leakage before reaching a toilet.
Urinary symptoms can have many causes, so don’t assume urgency or leakage is simply due to weak pelvic floor muscles.
At Lipo 360, we offer consultation-led pelvic floor muscle stimulation using electromagnetic technology.
The treatment stimulates pelvic floor muscle contractions while you remain fully clothed. Suitability is considered individually.
We do not claim that pelvic floor muscle stimulation diagnoses, treats or cures urge incontinence or overactive bladder, and it should not be considered a replacement for appropriate medical assessment or recommended treatment.

What Is Urge Incontinence?

Urge incontinence is urinary leakage associated with a sudden and difficult-to-control urge to urinate.
Some people may also experience symptoms such as:
  • needing to urinate frequently
  • waking during the night to urinate
  • sudden urinary urgency
  • difficulty reaching a toilet before leakage occurs
Urge incontinence may be associated with overactive bladder, but urinary urgency and leakage can have several different causes.
If you are experiencing new, unexplained, persistent or worsening bladder symptoms, it is important to speak to an appropriate healthcare professional.

What Can Contribute to Urinary Urgency?

There is not always one identifiable cause.
Urinary urgency or urge incontinence may be associated with a range of factors, which can include bladder function, certain medicines, urinary tract problems and some neurological conditions.
Lifestyle factors such as caffeine and fluid intake may also influence urinary symptoms in some people.
Because symptoms can have different causes, Lipo 360 does not diagnose the underlying reason for urinary urgency or incontinence.
If you have not previously discussed your symptoms with an appropriate healthcare professional, or your symptoms are new, unexplained or changing, we may recommend that you seek appropriate medical assessment before considering treatment with us.

Pelvic Floor Muscles & Bladder Function

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that supports structures including the bladder and bowel.
These muscles also help control the bladder.
Pelvic floor muscle training may form part of the management of some types of urinary incontinence. However, the appropriate approach depends on the type and cause of the symptoms.
Urge incontinence is not necessarily caused by weak pelvic floor muscles, which is why individual assessment is important.

Pelvic Floor Muscle Stimulation at Lipo 360

Lipo 360 offers non-invasive electromagnetic pelvic floor muscle stimulation.
During a Lipo 360 session, you remain fully clothed while seated on the treatment device.
Electromagnetic energy stimulates repeated contractions of the pelvic floor muscles without the need for an internal probe.
Treatment is consultation-led and subject to individual suitability.
We do not claim that electromagnetic pelvic floor muscle stimulation will resolve urinary urgency, stop leakage, increase bladder capacity or cure urge incontinence.
Individual experiences can vary.

Is Pelvic Floor Muscle Stimulation Suitable for Everyone?

No. Pelvic floor muscle stimulation may not be appropriate for everyone, so we should consider suitability before treatment.
Your consultation allows you to discuss your general health, relevant medical history, symptoms and the treatment itself.
Certain medical conditions, implanted devices, pregnancy and other circumstances may mean treatment is unsuitable.
If your symptoms suggest that further medical assessment would be appropriate, we may recommend speaking to your GP or another suitable healthcare professional before proceeding.

When Should I Seek Medical Advice?

Urinary symptoms can sometimes be associated with conditions requiring medical assessment.
You should consider seeking appropriate medical advice if your symptoms are new, unexplained, worsening or causing concern.
You should also seek medical advice where appropriate if you experience symptoms such as pain when urinating, blood in your urine, repeated urinary infections, difficulty emptying your bladder or significant changes in your normal bladder habits.
Lipo 360 does not provide medical diagnosis and our consultation should not be used as a substitute for assessment by your GP or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

At-Home Pelvic Floor Muscle Stimulation

Where available and appropriate, Lipo 360 provides treatment in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
A trained practitioner brings the equipment to you, so you can be treated without travelling to a clinic.
Availability varies by area, and all treatments are subject to consultation and individual suitability.
What Happens During Treatment?
During a pelvic floor muscle stimulation session, you sit fully clothed on the treatment device.
The technology generates electromagnetic stimulation that causes the pelvic floor muscles to contract repeatedly during the session.
Your practitioner will explain the procedure before treatment and answer any questions you may have.
Treatment protocols and the number of sessions considered appropriate can vary by individual.
No particular result can be guaranteed.
Urge Incontinence & Pelvic Floor Stimulation FAQs

Is urge incontinence the same as stress incontinence?

No. Stress incontinence typically involves leakage when pressure is placed on the bladder, such as during coughing, laughing, sneezing or exercise.

Urge incontinence involves a sudden need to urinate that may be followed by involuntary leakage.

Some people experience symptoms of both, which is commonly described as mixed incontinence.

Does Lipo 360 diagnose urge incontinence?

No. Lipo 360 does not diagnose urinary or bladder conditions.

If you have new, unexplained, persistent or concerning urinary symptoms, we may recommend obtaining appropriate medical assessment.

Does the Lipo 360 treatment cure urge incontinence?

No such claim is made.

Lipo 360 provides electromagnetic pelvic floor muscle stimulation. We do not claim that the treatment cures urge incontinence or overactive bladder.

How does the treatment work?

Electromagnetic energy stimulates repeated contractions of the pelvic floor muscles while you remain seated and fully clothed.

Does the treatment involve an internal probe?

No. The Lipo 360 pelvic floor muscle stimulation treatment is non-invasive and does not require an internal probe.

Will it stop urinary leakage?

Results cannot be guaranteed.

Urinary leakage can have different causes, and pelvic floor muscle stimulation will not be suitable or appropriate for everybody.

Can it replace bladder training or treatment recommended by my GP?

No. Pelvic floor muscle stimulation should not be presented as a replacement for medical assessment or treatment recommended by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

What if I have already been diagnosed with overactive bladder?

Please tell us about any diagnosis and current treatment during your consultation.

Depending on your circumstances, we may recommend discussing pelvic floor muscle stimulation with the healthcare professional responsible for your care before proceeding.

What if I have a neurological condition?

Please disclose relevant medical conditions during your consultation.

Some neurological conditions can affect bladder function and may require specialist assessment or management. Treatment with Lipo 360 will only be considered where it is appropriate to do so.

Is treatment suitable for everyone?

No. Suitability depends on your individual circumstances, medical history and any relevant contraindications.

A consultation is therefore required before treatment.
